Nobody narrates Thomas the Tank Engine better, so for that reason, I'm out.

I'll take your word for it, I'm biased because I dislike Ringo, I don't like Lennon much either but his contribution to music in general is undeniable.
Ron Howard's documentary 'eight days a week' is out this weekend, it should be interesting, despite being directed by Ron Howard.

They sacked Pete Best because they wanted a better drummer and replaced him with the bloke who was by common consent at the time, the best drummer on the northern circuit.
Ringo is very highly rated by a lot of top drummers and musicians including John Lennon who was pulling his best mate's leg with his famous remark and actually having a go at the egomaniacal McCartney.

Great quote from John Lennon when he was asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world he replied " Ringo? The best drummer in the world? He wasn't even the best drummer in The Beatles!"

And yet, funnily enough, after several years getting absolutely nowhere, they binned Pete Best and within momhs became the biggest stars in the world.
Some whelk.

I saw Starkey on drums with The Who at the Royal Albert Hall about 15 years ago.
He was still young, but even then it was clear at that age he was a far better drummer than his old man ever was.

The Beatles would've been a different band without either one of John, Paul, or George. Whilst a whelk could've stood in for Ringo and it wouldn't have made any fucking difference whatsoever.

I have to say that his son, Zak Starkey, is a far better drummer than his old man ever was. Saw him a few months ago playing with Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend. There aren't many drummers who can stand up to the late great Mooney, but he does.
